Stade Ernest-Wallon

Stade Toulousain

Rugby Union World Cup 1991

The Ernest-Wallon (formerly Parc des Sports and the Stade des Sept Deniers ) is a stadium in the French city of Toulouse. It is located on the Rue des Troënes in the northwestern district of Sept Deniers and is the home stadium of the rugby union club Stade Toulousain, who is represented in the top league Top 14. The stadium can accommodate 19,500 spectators. It is named after Ernest Wallon, the first president of the association.

Stade Toulousain used from 1907, the Stade des Ponts Jumeaux, which was several times been the venue for the final match of the French championship until the early 1950s. It was demolished in 1980 because it had to give the then under construction, Western Ring Road. As a replacement a little more than a kilometer north of it was the new stadium. Construction began in 1978 and was completed four years later.

During the Rugby Union World Cup in 1991, the stadium was the venue of a preliminary round game between Canada and Romania. At Stade Toulousain top games differs from the almost twice as large Stadium Municipal.
