Stan Barker
Stan Barker ( born May 24 1926 in Clitheroe; † 2 July 1997) was a British jazz pianist.
Barker was until the age of fifty years, mostly working as a music teacher ( Royal Northern College of Music, Belfast School of Music, Arts Merseyside, South Wales Art Association, Southport Arts Centre ) and only then began to appear as a professional musician; with his own trio, he released an album with Nelson Records. He also played with Digby Fairweather (with whom he 1979 Jazz College founded in 1980 and played in a duo, album Let's Duet in 1984 at Essex Radio ), Al Grey, Buddy Tate, Al Wood and Billy Butterfield. With trombonist Roy Williams, he had a quartet. Tom Lord lists four recording sessions 1984 until 1987.
