Starting lineup

Starting Five ( German: Launching Five or First Five ) is the name for the starting grid in the sport of basketball. It consists of five players, usually from 2 Guards ( building players ), 2 forwards ( wingers ) and a center, and is also called 2-1-2 lineup.

These positions are numbered from the smallest to the largest:

1 PG - point guard ( Point Guard ) 2 SG - shooting guard ( Point Guard ) 3 SF - Small Forward ( winger ) 4 PF - Power Forward ( winger ) 5 C - Center

However, other types of statements are possible, and can be freely varied at the discretion of the coach. Frequently coming alternative starting positions such as: 3 Guards, 1 Forward and 1 center; or 2 Guards, 1 forward and 2 Center before.
