Staryi Uhryniv

Stary Uhryniw (Ukrainian Старий Угринів; Russian Старый Угринов / Stary Ugrinow, Polish Uhrynów Stary ) is a village in the western Ukrainian oblast of Ivano- Frankivsk. It is located in Kalush Raion, near the Rajonshauptstadt Kalush, and in 2001 had about 1000 inhabitants. In the immediate vicinity there is the village Serednij Urhyniw to the local council area of the town belongs to.

History

The village was, according to sources, first documented either in 1440 or 1447. Mid-seventeenth century took the villagers participate in the Khmelnytsky Uprising, which was, however, brutally suppressed in this region.

Nationally known was Stary Uhryniw in the 20th century as the birthplace of the Ukrainian nationalist Stepan Bandera politician.
