State Library of Victoria

The State Library of Victoria ( State Library of Victoria) in Melbourne is the central library of the state of Victoria in Australia. It was built in 1854 in Victorian style, is situated in the Victorian Heritage Register ( VHR number H1497 ). It is located in the northern business center of Melbourne.

The library, accessible with then 3846 books to the public since 1856, decreed in 2013 a stock of over 2 million books and 16,000 journals. The special features of the collection include the diaries of the city's founder, John Batman and John Pascoe Fawkner, fonts ( folios ) of Captain James Cook and from the century before last, the original armor of Ned Kelly.
