Štefan Čambal ( born December 16, 1908 in Bratislava, † July 18, 1990 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak football player and coach.

Club career

Čambal began playing football as a 13 -year-old at the sports club Danube in Bratislava city. Two years later moved Čambal, which began as a striker for Ligeti SC. In 1927, the talented attacker has been committed from 1 ČsŠK Bratislava and from then played in the first team of the 1st ČsŠK. In November 1927, the first ČsŠK won the Czechoslovak Amateur Championship when the team defeated with Čambal in the attack in the final DFC Budejovice 4-2.

Called attention to himself Čambal at 8-1 his team's success against Newcastle United on 26 May 1929 in which he scored three goals. Following the Slovak was obliged by professional club FK Teplice. There he graduated, now moved into midfield, his first league games, something for the club from North Bohemia he managed a goal. After just one season in Teplice Čambal moved on to the top team Slavia Prague, where he celebrated four championships in the next six years. For Slavia Čambal scored nine league goals.

1937 moved Čambal at that second division SK Bata Zlín, with the he succeeded in 1938, the rise in the first league. In the spring of 1939, played for the Slovakian SK Židenice. Then Čambal returned to the now independent Slovakia.

National

Čambal was first convened in 1932 in the Czechoslovakian national team. He made his debut on May 22 in Prague with a 1-1 draw against Austria, and was thus one of the first Slovaks in the Czechoslovak selection. Then Čambal belonged to the starting eleven and served on August 6, 1933, Zagreb, Yugoslavia against the first and last times as team captain. At the World Championships in 1934, he competed in all four games of Czechoslovakia on the court. His last game for the Czechoslovak Republic Čambal completed on September 6, 1935. During 0-0 against Yugoslavia in Belgrade, the midfielder was replaced in the 25th minute for the game Stefan Pospichal.

Coaching career

Čambal was 1939-1945 coach of the Slovak national team. He then coached the ŠK Baťovany in the Czechoslovak league. In 1948, he coached the Czechoslovak youth team in 1949 in four games, the Czechoslovak national team. From 1949 to 1952 Čambal was coach at Vítkovické Zelezarny. Next stops were Spartak Královo Pole, Jiskra Liberec in the 1955 season, Tankista Praha, which was delegated to Pardubice in 1957 and henceforth renamed as Dukla Pardubice. From 1956 to 1958 Čambal was parallel jurisdiction to his club 's commitment to the B- selection of Czechoslovakia.

In the early 1960s went Čambal first time abroad and worked at Vorwärts Berlin. From 1964 to 1966, the Slovak was a coach at FC Prague in Sydney, Australia in the New South Wales League. After his return to Czechoslovakia Čambal worked for two years at Lokomotíva Košice, before he went to Sweden for some time. Then coached the runner-up of 1934 initially BS Vlašim, then the unterklassigen Prague club Uhelné sklady. After two Slovak stations, TJ Martin and Strojárne Jednota Trenčín, 1975 filed with Sparta Prague again a big club, which, however, was relegated for the first time in their history in the second division. Although Sparta succeeded in the immediate resurgence, but Čambal was replaced during the season by Jaroslav Lev. His coaching career was Čambal finish in Austria.
