Stefan Klos

Stefan Klos ( born August 16, 1971 in Dortmund ) is a former German football player.

Life and career

He attended the Theodor-Heuss -Realschule in Dortmund- Eving 1982-1988. Afterwards he made together with his then-girlfriend and today's wife at the High School Gymnasium.

As a young goalkeeper came Klos 1990 from TuS Eving - TSC Eintracht Dortmund Lindenhorst over to Borussia Dortmund. In his second season 1991/92 he was a regular player and hardly missed a game until his departure in December 1998 to the Glasgow Rangers in Scotland. The Rangers Klos was four times Scottish champion. In 2004 he was elected captain of the team. After several injuries, he ended his career at the end of the season 2006/07.

Although Klos was not a national team, but was considered one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Bundesliga of his time. His greatest success after two German championships in 1995 and 1996 was 1997, winning the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund coach Ottmar Hitzfeld in the final against Juventus. On 2 December 1997, he won with the Dortmund World Cup in Tokyo. In 1996, he should ride as third-choice goalkeeper for European Football Championship in England in 1996, but a thumb fracture prevented this.
