Stefan Wächter

Stefan Wächter ( born April 20, 1978 in Herne ), nicknamed " Toto ", is a former German football goalkeeper.

Career

Guard played at the KFC Uerdingen 05, at VfL Bochum and at Westfalia Herne and stood since 2001 at Hamburger SV under contract.

In the 2003 /04 season had to guard the injured cruciate ligament goalkeeper Martin Pieckenhagen replace and went to his first game for the hamburger. After Pieckenhagens recovery guard was initially again substitute goalkeeper. Through an ongoing form of weakness Pieckenhagens guards eventually supplanted these but from the Hamburg goal and became the first-choice goalkeeper in his club. During the season 2005/ 06 guard, however, was in turn replaced due to injury by Sascha Kirschstein. Although it was possible to play the end of 2006 again in the basic formation of the HSV guards, with the obligation of Frank Rost in January 2007 guard, however, was planned only as a third-choice goalkeeper. His expiring after the season 2006/ 07 contract, therefore, did not lengthen the HSV.

At the beginning of the 2007/ 08 moved to the Guardian Bundesliga promoted Hansa Rostock, where he was awarded a three -year contract. Represented the meantime, for two games by Jörg Hahnel, to guard developed in Rostock goalkeeper until he on 27 April 2008 after a total of 28 Bundesliga appearances drew upon a torn ACL in his right knee in the match against Energie Cottbus. At season's end Rostock got back to the 2nd Bundesliga from in which guards after his recovery was initially only planned as a substitute goalkeeper. In 2009, he eventually suffered a patellar tendons injury in his left knee and a few weeks later, a medial meniscus tear in his right knee, which is why he came to no further use for Rostock's professional team throughout the season 2008 /09. In summer 2009, a guard club change was suggested despite continuing contract. Nevertheless guards remained at FC Hansa and was listed in the 2009/10 season in the squad of the II team in the Regionalliga Nord, but was actually released.

Since 2010, Guardian has terminated due to his cruciate ligament injury his active career and has since worked as goalkeeper coach.
