Sascha Kirschstein ( born June 9, 1980 in Braunschweig ) is a German football goalkeeper who plays for Erzgebirge Aue in the 2nd Bundesliga for the 2013/14 season.

Career

In his youth Kirschstein played for clubs FSB Braunschweig ( 1992 renamed SV Olympia 92 Braunschweig) and BSC Brunswick. In 1996 he moved to Eintracht Braunschweig, from 2002 to 2004 he played for Rot-Weiss Essen, with which he ascended into the Second Bundesliga.

2004 signed him, Hamburger SV, for on 26 November 2005, he made his Bundesliga debut when he aufrückte for the injured goalkeeper Stefan Wächter in the first team. From March to October 2006, he was a regular goalkeeper of the Hamburger SV until coach Thomas Doll resorted back to guard. Kirschstein herded three times in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup twice the gate of HSV. After the HSV had obliged the former Schalke Frank Rost during the winter break of the season 2006/ 07, Kirschstein was only substitute goalkeeper. Accordingly, for season 2007/ 08 he moved to Greuther Fürth; the Franks borrowed it from HSV from for two years. Here he pushed beginning of the season the goalkeeper of the previous season, Stephan Loboué. In the 2007 /08 season against SpVgg Greuther Furth scored Benjamin Siegert from Wehen the fastest goal in German professional football: He brought the ball after eight seconds in the goal of Kirschstein under. For the season 2009/10 Kirschstein of Greuther Fürth moved to Rot Weiss Ahlen; at the same time was in June 2009 his contract with Hamburger SV, which was valid until 2011, was dissolved. For the 2010/11 season, he joined the newly promoted into the Second Bundesliga, FC Ingolstadt. From the 14th Round he lost his place to Ramazan Özcan.

Since 1 July 2013 it stands at Erzgebirge Aue under contract.
