Stefano Zappalà

Stefano Zappalà ( born February 6, 1941 in Aci Bonaccorsi in the province of Catania) is an Italian politician and former Member of Parliament for Forza Italia. Zappalà was elected in 1999 and 2004 for Central Italy in the European Parliament. There he was a member of the European People's Party.

Career

Zappalà graduated in 1959 a humanistic high school. 1960 to 1962 he attended the Military Academy in Modena. Then he attended until 1964, the Artillery School in Turin, where he specialized in strategic studies received a high school degree. 1971 to 1973 he attended the Technical University High School in Rome. There he received a degree in mathematics (1973 ), as well as a degree in Civil Engineering ( 1976). Until 1979 Zappalà was an officer of the Italian Army. He then worked as a freelance engineer and entrepreneur, he decided in 1994 his political career began. 1994-2005, he was Deputy coordinator of Forza Italia for Lazio. 1995-2000 Member of the Regional Council of Lazio and 1997-2002 Member of the City Council of Latina. 1999 Zappalà was elected to the European Parliament for the first time. 2002 to 2005 he was mayor of Pomezia in the province of Rome. In 2004 he succeeded in re-entry into the European Parliament. In 2010 he was Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism in the Lazio region in the government of Renata Polverini.
