Steffen Fetzner

Steffen Fetzner ( born August 17, 1968 in Karlsruhe ) is a German table tennis player. It was in 1989 at the Table Tennis World Championships in Dortmund together with Jörg Rosskopf world champion in doubles. Between 1988 and 1996 he won with Joerg Rosskopf six German championships in men's doubles.

Career

"Speedy" Fetzner grew up in Spöck, where he played his first balls at the Turnverein in the Table Tennis Department.

Most successes were achieved by the 1.69 m wide Fetzner in a double with Roßkopf. So they won the 1986 both the German Youth Championships and the European Youth Championships in doubles. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona they took the silver medal. Six times they were together German masters. In individual Fetzner reached the final five times, but he lost every time.

Between 1985 and 2000, denied Fetzner 206 internationals. Then he ended his international career and worked until 2004 as a player-manager of TTC Grenzau.

Fetzner was in July 2005 at the German Table Tennis Association vice-president with a special task. His field of activity included the Bundesliga and public relations. In April 2007, he became head coach of a sports academy in Doha ( Qatar).

Since the season 2011/2012 Steffen Fetzner plays for the Baden -tier TV Mosbach.

Private

Fetzner is married to Belinda Leimberg since July 1994 and has two daughters. His younger brother Dirk never reached Steffen Fetzners skill level, but won 1990/91 with the TTG 1947 Walldorf German Youth Team Championships.
