Steffen Kammler

Steffen Kammler ( born May 6, 1965 in calbe (Saale ) ) is a conductor. He is a Norwegian citizen since 2008.

Life

Kammler was from 1975 to 1983 a member of the Dresden Kreuz Choir under Martin Flämig. From 1990 to 1997 he was conductor of the chamber choir Josquin Desprez Leipzig.

After his studies in choral and orchestral conducting at the conservatories in Weimar and Leipzig, he was first engaged at the opera houses in Hall and Hamburg. In 2001 he came to Norway as a choir director of the Norwegian National Opera, a position he held until 2009. Since then, among others, since 2008 he has worked as a freelance conductor and conducting teacher as, as conductor of the Norwegian oratorio choir Cæciliaforeningen and as a visiting professor at the University of Shaoxing in China.
