Province
Shaoxing (Chinese绍兴 市/绍兴 市, pinyin Shaoxing, W.-G. Shao -hsing ) is a prefecture -level city in the Chinese province of Zhejiang in the Ningshao - level, 65 kilometers from the provincial capital Hangzhou.
The administrative area of Shaoxing has an area of 8256 km ² and approximately 4.33 million inhabitants ( end of 2004). The average temperature is 16 ° C. In the borough Yuecheng there is an old town with canals and bridges and winding streets.
Administrative Divisions
At county level, Shaoxing is composed of three municipalities, a circle and two independent cities together. These are:
- Municipality Yuecheng (越 城区), 338 km ², 640,000 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
- Municipality keqiao (柯桥 区, formerly Shaoxing County ), 1177 km ², 720,000 inhabitants, capital: Street district keqiao (柯桥 街道);
- Shangyu City district (上虞 区, formerly Shangyu City ), 1427 km ², 774,000 inhabitants, capital: Street district Baiguan (百官 街道);
- Xinchang county (新昌县), 1213 km ², 430,000 inhabitants;
- Zhuji City (诸暨 市), 2311 km ², 1.06 million inhabitants;
- Shengzhou City (嵊 州市), 1771 km ², 730,000 inhabitants.
