Stella Doufexis
Stella Doufexis ( Greek: Στέλλα Ντουφεξής, pronounced Doufexis, * 1968 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German opera, recital and concert singer in the vocal range mezzo- soprano.
Life and artistic work
The artist, the daughter of Greek director Stavros Doufexis and a German mother, studied voice at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin with Ingrid Figur. They also attended master classes with Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. The English contralto Anna Reynolds, she completed her education.
From 1995 to 1997 she was a permanent member of the Heidelberg City Theater. This was followed by numerous guest appearances on the great music venues at home and abroad. She has performed for example in Munich, Salzburg, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Brussels. In 2005 she was a permanent member of the Komische Oper Berlin, where she sang many important roles of her times: Cherubino, Dorabella, Niklas and Rosenkavalier Octavian. Great attention was paid to her portrayal of Hamlet in the premiere (June 2009), the opera of the same name, composed by Christian Jost and her appearance at the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Muse ( Niklas ) in the opera Les Contes d'Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach (2012 ).
Stella Doufexis is a world much booked recital and concert singer. They toured and other materials on the festivals of Lucerne and Berlin, the Schubertiade Hohenems, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival, the Schleswig -Holstein Festival, the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival, the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, Handel Festival Hall She gave concerts and recitals, inter alia, in Barcelona, Salzburg, Berlin, London, Paris, Moscow, Washington and Moscow. Her repertoire includes songs by Franz Schubert, Maurice Ravel, Alessandro Scarlatti, Peter Cornelius, Arnold Schoenberg, Richard Strauss, Francis Poulenc, etc.
The mezzo-soprano has worked with renowned conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Kurt Masur, Helmuth Rilling, Ivor Bolton, Simon Rattle and Carl St. Clair.
Stella Doufexis lives in Berlin and is married to the composer and conductor Christian Jost.
