Stephan Zünd

Stephan ignition ( born July 3, 1969 in Zurich ) is a retired Swiss ski jumper.

Career

He made ​​his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup on 7 February 1990 in St. Moritz. At 16-18. February, he reached only an eighth and then a third in Val di Fiemme. In the season Appreciation he was twenty-first. The following two winters were the most successful of his career. He reached in the 1990/91 season and the second in 1991/92 to fifth place in the overall World Cup.

In the following years he was unable to repeat these successes; In 1994, he only reached at the Ski Flying World Championships with sixth place once a top ranking. In order to reduce his competition weight, ignition restricted the calorie intake temporarily massively. After the end of his career in 1996 he made his fight public with the weight and criticized the thinness in ski jumping. His criticism became one of the impetus for the discussion of stronger regulation of weight-related competitive advantages in ski jumping, then in 2004 led to an adjustment of the length of the ski to the Body Mass Index.

Ignition holds a degree in law, continued their education to become a lawyer and since 2005 an employee of a bank in the Principality of Liechtenstein.
