Stephen Gyllenhaal

Stephen Gyllenhaal [' dʒɪlənhɑl ] ( born October 4, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American film director and screenwriter.

From 1977 to 2009 he was married to Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal screenwriter. Their children Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jake Gyllenhaal are actors.

Gyllenhaal is of Swedish descent. His family belongs to one of Sweden's oldest noble families. Knighted ( ennoblement ) 1652 by Christina of Sweden, with the family name " Gyllenhaal " and the associated coat of arms equipped. In addition to his work for the film, he has made a name as an author of books of poetry.
