Steve Aizlewood

Steve Aizlewood ( born October 9, 1952 in Newport, † August 6, 2013 ) was a Welsh football player. The defender was the older brother of the Welsh international's Mark Aizlewood and ran primarily on the Third and Fourth Division.

Sports career

Aizlewood began his career in his hometown of Newport County AFC. The Welsh club he joined in 1969 in the English Fourth Division, while this time he ran in 197 games for the club, scoring 18 goals. In the spring of 1976 he left Walews and changed within the English football for the third division Swindon Town, in which the following three and a half years, he came to 112 League missions as a regular player and with a total of ten goals also earned double digits in the scoring charts. In the summer of 1979 he moved to the fourth division club Portsmouth, which he ascended to the third tier in 1983. In the year of success, however, parted ways. Aizlewood reüssierte subsequently football in the Southern Football League in Non -League, where he finished his career at Havant & Waterlooville FC.

After a short illness Aizlewood died in August 2013 at the age of 60 years at the Royal Gwent Hospital in his hometown of Newport.
