Steve Dobrogosz

Steve Dobrogosz (born 26 January 1956 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania) is an American composer and jazz pianist.

Dobrogosz grew up in Raleigh ( North Carolina) and attended the Berklee College of Music. In 1978, he moved to Stockholm, where he studied classical music at the Royal Academy of Music. He quickly acquired a reputation as a pianist in the Swedish jazz scene and released several albums for European record labels. Among other things, he worked with Arild Andersen, Paul Motian, Kenny Wheeler, Thad Jones, Jon Christensen, Palle Danielsson, Alex Riel and Bill Frisell.

Appeared in 1982 on the label Odin Album Fairytales with the Norwegian singer Radka Toneff. With the Swedish vocalist Berit Andersson, he recorded four albums, of which The Final Touch was listed by Jazz Times among the ten best of 1991.

Dobrogosz created more than four hundred works, including next jazz compositions also a mass for choir, strings and piano (1992 ), a Requiem, a Te Deum, a Magnificat, a Christmas cantata, a symphony, other orchestral and chamber music works, piano, organ and other solo compositions.
