Steve Gohouri (2007)

Steven Lohoré Gohouri ( born February 8, 1981 in Treichville ), called Steve Gohouri, is an Ivorian football player. Since he grew up in France, he also has a French passport and is thus dual nationality.

Birth and childhood

Steve Gohouri was born in 1981 in Treichville. His family and himself drew it early to Europe, where they were settled in the Paris agglomeration in France.

Career

Association

Gohouri was from January 2007 to December 2009 Borussia Mönchengladbach under contract. His place, he lost in the meantime, in October 2007, when he was seen before the game against 1.FC Cologne together with the teammates Soumaila Coulibaly celebrating in a Cologne nightclub and this the so-called by the tabloids "Disco Affair " was exaggerated. It took until mid-February 2008, before he was nominated for the match against Mainz 05 from the trainer again and transported into the team. With a convincing performance he could report back, so Gohouri came to the defense for use in the subsequent games. In September 2008 Gohouri was after he missed several appointments at the medical department, banished by coach Jos Luhukay for two weeks to the amateurs of Borussia Mönchengladbach. In June 2009, the club announced that Gohouri no longer belong to the senior squad and he could be looking for a new club despite an ongoing contract.

Before moving to Mönchengladbach 1.89 meter Defensive Allrounder for BSC Young Boys was active and played a total of 37 top-flight appearances, in which he scored eight goals. Gohouri is actually a skilled striker and played at the beginning of his career in the attack before he was retrained to center-back later. He is considered extremely strong in the tackle and protrudes through his heading ability.

On 22 December 2009 Mönchengladbach were known to have canceled the contract with Gohouri. On 12 January 2010 he signed a current moratorium until June 30, 2010 contract with the Premier League club Wigan Athletic, which was extended by a further two years in May 2010. In contrast, the club Wigan Athletic results on its website, there had been in the transfer in January 2010 to a six-month loan deal.

3 May 2010 Gohouri scored his first goal for Wigan: Some great overhead kick in injury time. It was the 2-2 equalizer, which had to descend to the opponent Hull City result. So far, the Ivorians completed 42 league games (two goals) for the English and was, moreover, to each an insert in the FA and League Cup ( as of 5 February 2012).

National

For the Ivory Coast Gohouri completed so far eleven internationals. In March 2007, he was first appointed. In the game on March 21 against Mauritius, he scored in a 3-0 win two matches for the Ivorians. A year later he was one of the national squad for the African Nations Cup 2008.
