Steve Knight (musician)

Stephen Sanders "Steve" Knight ( born May 12, 1935 in New York City; † January 19, 2013 in Riverdale (New York) ) was an American rock and jazz musicians ( bass, keyboards, trombone, tuba, also Banjo, guitar, piano ).

Life and work

Steve Knight is a graduate of Columbia University and played in the 1950s and 1960s in the music scene of New York's Greenwich Village neighborhood, including in the rock groups Devil's Anvil and Wings. He became known eventually appeared as keyboardist founded by Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi rock group Mountain, with whom he went on tour internationally and also on the Woodstock Festival. Knight had also been the Mountain albums Climbing! , Nantucket Sleighride, Flowers of Evil and The Road Goes Ever On.

In the following years he worked in the main job as an engineer; next to the Red Onion Jazz Band and more than twenty years with his band Taksim, with the two albums he recorded. In the field of jazz Knight worked 1958-1978 with 10 recording sessions.
