Steve Wynn (songwriter)

Steve Wynn ( born February 21, 1960 in Los Angeles, California) is an American singer-songwriter, singer, guitarist, composer, lyricist, musician. He is currently based in New York. Wynn was a singer, guitarist and main composer of the band Dream Syndicate 1981-1989. In 1990, he began a solo career.

Career

Before he founded Dream Syndicate, Wynn played in the band The Suspects from Davis, California. Whose members included vocalist Kendra Smith, Russ Tolman and Gavin Blair. In 1979 they released their first single "It 's Up to You". Two years later, under the name 15 Minutes a self-released another single "Last Chance for You".

The Dream Syndicate were never commercially successful. They went with U2 and REM on tour as the opening act, but could not win over the mass audience.

Since 1990, Wynn has released numerous albums, covering various musical styles. On his first solo album, Kerosene Man, played as sidemen Fernando Saunders on electric bass, DJ Bonebrake on drums, Howe Gelb and Steve Berlin on sax. Peter Buck of R.E.M. played on the successor, Dazzling Display, and wrote the title song with. Melting In The Dark 1996 was recorded with the Boston band Come.

Here Come the Miracles (2001) was his biggest-selling solo album to date.

1985 Wynn wrote a collection of songs together with Dan Stuart of Green on Red, they were recorded and released under the name Danny and Dusty. In the 1990s he was part of the so-called indie supergroup Gutterball together with Stephen McCarthy of The Long Ryders, and Brian Harvey and Johnny Hott of House of Freaks.
