History

During her studies at the University of California at Davis Wynn and Smith played together with Russ Tolman and Gavin Blair (both later in True West ) in the band The Suspects. After Los Angeles returned, Wynn recorded a single with the title 15 Minutes ( for coined by Andy Warhol concept of " 15 minutes of fame " ) as a farewell to the music on. However, he continued this intention not to. While auditioning for the band Goat Deity, he met Precoda, who had followed a search ad for a bass player, and they founded The Dream Syndicate, where Precoda switched to guitar. Smith came on the bass here and brought Dennis Duck in the band, who had previously played in the locally successful band Human Hands from Pasadena.

She drew it from the legacy of The Velvet Underground and Television, but also borrowing from Quicksilver Messenger Service and Creedence Clearwater Revival were recognizable. Wynn later said about her rapid success: "It was an overnight thing. We had nothing to do for it. It was very strange and confused us somehow. "
