Television came from, such as the Ramones and Patti Smith, the New York proto-punk scene. The combination of big-city rock with the duels of the guitarists Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd and reminiscent of Lou Reed voice of Tom Verlaine exerted a not inconsiderable influence on post-punk bands.

Style

In the punk scene, the virtuoso, jazz -influenced interaction of Lloyd and Verlaine were previously unheard of. You have canceled the separation of lead and rhythm guitar in favor of complex, interlocking, contrapuntal structures. The guitars complement each other, although they often play rhythmically and tonally radically different material. This type of guitar arrangements exercised a weighty influence on about The Police, U2, Dream Syndicate, Rain Parade, Russ Tolman's True West and The Church. In recent times, based again many young guitar bands on the model of television, including The Strokes.
