Steven Spurrier (wine)

Steven Spurrier ( born 1944 ) is a British wine critic and wine merchant in Paris.

He organized in 1976 the legendary wine jury of Paris, the surprisingly shook the myth of the superiority of French wines and which ultimately fueled the expansion of wine production in the New World and made the world for higher quality wine.

He is the founder of the Académie du Vin and founder of Wine courses at Christie's. He is also the author and co-author of over a dozen books on wine.

In the film drama Bottle Shock Alan Rickman played the role of Steven Spurrier.
