Stig Olin

Stig Olin, born Stig Högberg ( born September 10, 1920 in Stockholm, † June 28, 2008 ) was a Swedish actor, director, screenwriter, composer and singer. He became known among other things as a regular performer in the early films Ingmar Bergman.

Life

Stig Olin was born as an illegitimate child and grew the first years of his life in an orphanage. His debut as a film actor, he gave in 1940 in Kronans käcka Gossar. In the early 1940s he first met Ingmar Bergman and worked in the manuscript department of the production company Svensk Industri film like this later. Their first film work was The Hearing (1944 ), in which Olin played a larger supporting role and Bergman served as screenwriter and assistant director. The collaboration lasted until the early 1950s. 1953 Olin led by I Major och skur (1953 ) for the first time to direct myself. In the following years he transferred to the Director compartment and partially composed the music for his films. End of the 1950s separated Svensk Industri film of Olin, who joined Radio to radio Sveriges Institute, where he held from 1967 to 1980 leading positions. In addition to his film and radio work, he staged repeated at the theater, as Stephen Sondheim's 1978 musical A Little Night Music, which in turn is based on Bergman's film Smiles of a Summer Night ( 1955). 2008 Olin died in a nursing home near Stockholm.

Olin was married twice, to actress Britta Holmberg and Helena Kallenbäck. His marriage to his children Mats Holmberg and Lena Olin come. The latter also played for Bergman and later in international productions.
