Strathgordon, Tasmania

Strathgordon is a small town in the south west of the Australian state of Tasmania. It is located between the two large reservoirs of the Tasmanian Southwest, Lake Gordon and Lake Pedder in the north to the south.

It leads from the east (Hobart ) has only one access road to this settlement, the Gordon River Road ( B61 ). To the west of this road Strathgordon provides access to the Gordon Dam and Serpentine Dam. The nearest gas station from there lies 57 km further east in Maydena. Thus, the small town is also true for Tasmanian conditions as remote.

Strathgordon served as a settlement for the construction of dams on the Gordon River and Serpentine River, which was carried out by Hydro Tasmania in the 1970s.

Today, the town serves as a starting point for visitors to the South West National Park.
