String Trio of New York

The String Trio of New York is an American jazz trio, presents the chamber jazz on the stringed instruments guitar, violin and double bass.

The group was founded, polystylistic 1977 initially served to perform both collective improvisations as well as the compositions of their founders. It was based in the jazz trio also touches on the bluegrass and other musical traditions in which ensembles are active with similar occupation. Over the years, the ensemble also led covers of standards by Erik Satie, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, John Lewis, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones and given also feature specially commissioned since 1991 compositions on. The sound of the group is characterized by a specific swing and a melodic attitude. While the founding members James Emery and John Lindberg Trio have remained until today faithful to the violin position was changed several times after Billy Bang retired from the trio. The strongest opinion of some critics albums with violinist Regina Carter emerged (Inter Mobility, 1992; Blues ... 1993? ). Several albums has recorded the trio with a guest musician.
