Strzmiele

Strzmiele ( German Stramehl ) is a town in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. It belongs to the Gmina Radowo Małe (Town Small Raddow ) in the powiat Lobeski ( Labeser circle). In 1348 the place was under the name Wulf mountain city rights, but is later sunk to the village.

Geographical location

The place is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 6 kilometers west of Łobez ( Labes ) and about 15 kilometers southeast of Resko (rain forest ).

History

The settlement appears for the first time under the Slavic name Stramyl. To 1279/1280 the castle Wulf Berg is mentioned as belonging to the noble family Borcke here. The name " Wulf Mountain" is probably connected with the arms of Borckes showing two wolves. The Pomeranian Dukes Bogislaw V, Barnim IV and V. From 1815 to 1945 Stramehl belonged to Regenwalde the Prussian province of Pomerania.

1945 Stramehl how completely Pomerania put under Polish administration. The Polish administrative authority gave the place the name Strzmiele, drove the German population and replaced it with Poland.
