In Scharnhausen this distance is due to cramped conditions in up to 18.00 m, from the motorway junction Wendlingen ( 23.4 km ) to the Neckar crossing at 29.50 m. A possible future extension of four lane highway was included in the determination of the distance.

History

Planning

A new railway line between Stuttgart and Ulm, was conducted as part of the NBS / ABS Stuttgart -Ulm -Augsburg in the German Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 1992.

The in the regional planning procedure of the Stuttgart 21 project introduced in December 1996 draft corresponded between the space Scharnhausen and Wendlingen in much of the subsequent planning. The Filderstadt tunnel would have thereby taken a different course, between Plieningen and Scharnhausen a track triangle would have arisen. The Small Wendlinger curve would be unthreaded just before ( west ) of the Neckar crossing from the new line.

The new line comes in three project section: Section 1.2 describes the Filderstadt tunnel (km 0.4 to 10.0 ) of Section 1.3 the north past the airport leading section ( including the envisaged here connecting lines, km 10.0 to 15.3 ). The section 1.4 leads from the eastern end of the airport runway ( 15.3 km ) to the Neckar crossing at Wendlingen (km 25.2 ).

Between the western boundary of the zoning section 1.4 and the tunnel Denkendorf three variants were ( with five sub-variants ) were examined, in the Neckar crossing Wendlingen four. The planning approval for the section 1.4 was applied on 16 June 2002 passed the decision on 29 May 2008.

The plan approval procedure in Section 1.3 is to be continued with the submission of final plans at the Federal Railway Office in November 2011. Beginning of 2012, the plans are open to public inspection. (August 2011)
