Sultan Sahak

Sultan Sahak (* in the 14th century in Barzanjeh; † in the 15th century), also Soltan Sahak, was a Kurdish religious leader who founded the secret and syncretistic religion of the Ahl -e Haqq, also known as Yarsan. The name Sahak is a variant of the biblical Isaac. He is considered by the Ahl -e Haqq as the manifestation of the total divine essence. The Asian conqueror Timur met with Sultan and used him as an oracle.

Sultan Sahak was born in Barzanjeh which is located in today's Iraqi province of As- Sulaymaniyah. He was a direct descendant of the Shiite Imam Musa al - Kazim. His father Sheikh Isi was a religious leader. His mother was Khatun -e Razbar, which was viewed as a manifestation of the Virgin Mary. As with Jesus, to have been a virgin birth, the birth of Sultan Sahak's. In the opinion of his followers he brought the final message of God to the world and indeed the Bayabas -e Pirdiwari ( Beyond the Bridge ).

Sultan Sahak's teachings were recorded by his disciples and later released on Gorani in the work Kalam -e Saranjam.
