Sultanmahmut Toraygirov

Sultanmachmut Toraighyrow ( Kazakh Cyrillic Сұлтанмахмұт Торайғыров, Russian Султанмахмут Торайгыров / Sultanmachmut Toraigyrow; born October 29, 1893 in Kyzyl Tau (near Kokshetau ); † May 21, 1920 ) was a Kazakh writer and poet.

Life and work

Born in Kyzyl Tau (near Kokshetau ) he came up with four years of Bayanaul in the Pavlodar region. At age 13 he wrote his first poems. From the autumn of 1913, he worked as an editorial secretary at the first Kazakh Journal Aikap. In the years 1914 and 1915 he worked as a teacher in Bayanaul. 1916 he moved to Tomsk before he went after the February Revolution to Semipalatinsk 1917. During this time he has been able to develop his talent and has been a writer very productive.

Toraighyrow is the author of numerous books of poetry and one of the first Kazakh novels Красавица Камар, which was published posthumously in 1933. Furthermore, he was also politically very active, both as an advocate Kazakh national interests, as well as adherents of the new Soviet ideas. As early as 1920, he died very young, he could no longer follow the development of the Soviet Union.

Today Toraighyrow is respected as a national writer in Kazakhstan high, such as in Pavlodar State University named after him.
