Sumburgh Airport is the largest airport in the Shetland Islands in Scotland. It is located at the southern end of the island of Mainland, 31 kilometers south of Lerwick. The airport is owned by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd. and is operated by the airline Loganair and Flybe.

It is unusual that the airport instead of an ordinary helicopter landing site a 550 -meter-long airstrip has specifically for helicopters. Because of its proximity to the oil Rheinfelden in the North Sea of Sumburgh Airport serves as a helicopter base for the offshore industry and is accordingly much frequented by the helicopters. The western end of the takeoff and landing runway 09 crosses the A970, a road between Sumburgh Head and the north of the island; Flight and private transport are regulated by a barrier.
