Sun D'Or International Airlines

Sun d' Or International Airlines ( Hebrew: סאן דור ) is an Israeli charter airline based in Tel Aviv and a wholly owned subsidiary of El Al. Currently only used the brand name, there is no separate operations.

History

Sun d' Or International Airlines was established on 1 October 1977 under the name El Al Charter Services as a subsidiary of El Al, which at that time was still under state ownership. In 1981, the airline was renamed to Sun d'Or, only the CEO Uriel Yashiv then added the name International.

2005, El Al, and thus also their subsidiary Sun d'Or was privatized.

The Israeli aviation authority withdrew in March 2011, the AOC of the Sun d'Or April 1, 2011 on the grounds that the airline international standards with respect to its structure and its operation does not respect. This had already been criticized, however, have not changed. Since then, Sun d'Or is only used as a brand, the flights will be operated by the parent company El Al.

Destinations

From Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv from Sun d' Or offers (or El Al under the brand Sun d' Or) charter flights mainly to Europe. Are operated as of March 2012 Barcelona, Bratislava, Geneva, Katowice, Lisbon, Minsk, Munich, Paris, Rome, Vilnius, Warsaw and Zagreb. Previously served with Berlin- Schönefeld, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt and other destinations in Germany.

Fleet

Sun d'Or may currently do not operate their own fleet of more consequence of the withdrawal of the operating license. The flights under the brand Sun d'Or are carried out by the parent company El Al with their aircraft.

Trivia

  • In contrast to the parent company El Al Sun d'Or also flew during the Sabbath rest.
