Sun Yat-sen University

The Sun Yat- sen University (中山大学/中山大学, Zhongshan Daxue ) is a university in the Chinese province of Guangdong. It was founded in 1924 by Sun Yat-sen, a Chinese revolutionary leader and first president of the Republic of China was founded. The University is considered the best in southern China and one of the ten best in the People's Republic of China. The university has the largest affiliated hospitals system in China.

History

The Sun Yat -sen University was founded in 1924 by Sun Yat-sen. It was originally called National Guangdong University. After Sun's death in 1925, the university was renamed in 1926 in Sun Yat -sen University. The campus of the University was first in the road district Shipai Tianhe District. In the early 1950s, the Sun Yat- sen University was merged with Lingnan University. In 2001, Sun Yat -sen University was merged with the Medicine of Sun Yat- sen University.

Locations

South Campus

After the merger with the Lingnan College of Sun Yat- campus sen University after Kangle Yuan (康 乐园) was laid. There was already the campus of Lingnan College. The campus in Kangle yuan is called South Campus. It is located in Haizhu, a municipality in the south of Guangzhou, and is 1.17 km ².

Zhuhai Campus

In 2000, a second campus in Tangjia was opened in the city of Zhuhai. The students of the Most departments spend the first two years of their bachelor's degree program in Zhuhai and the third and fourth year in the South Campus in Guangzhou. The campus in Zhuhai is 3.48 km ² is by far the largest university campus. The area is however to a large extent of green areas. To the west of campus is a large area that is not used at all. The generous use of land is due to the fact that the city of Zhuhai has set the land free of charge. The campus in Zhuhai is defined by its architecture. The building in which the library and the administration are intended to resemble in shape to an open book. There are in the campus only one building, takes place in the classroom. This is between two hills and is over 500 meters long.

North Campus

In 2001, Sun Yat-sen University of Medicine was merged with Sun Yat -sen University. This created the North Campus. It is 0.39 km ², the smallest campus.

East Campus

In 2004, the East Campus in Daxuecheng (大学 城; university town ) was founded. This is located in Panyu, and is almost as large as the South Campus at 1.13 km ². Similar to the University Library in Zhuhai is also modeled on the shape of an open book in the East Campus.

Worldwide Sun Yat-sen Business School is the 59 business schools that have so far successfully met the examination by the three accreditation organizations AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS. In mainland China there are only two international business schools with this triple accreditation.

Lingnan ( University) College of Sun Yat- sen University is accredited by AMBA and EQUIS. The MBA program of Lingnan ( University) College is supported by MIT Sloan School of Management and is, according to Forbes China to the best MBA programs in China.
