The Expressway 27 is a freeway in South Korea. The highway connects the new port in the area of Suncheon and Gwangyang to the motorway network around Jeonju, so a shorter route to Seoul. The highway is 118 km long.

Street Description

The highway begins on the east side of the city of Suncheon, where there is a connection to the new port of Gwangyang. Then there is a junction with the Expressway 10 The highway then passes through a mountainous and sparsely populated area, with only a few small towns. In the city of Namwon Expressway 12 is crossed. In Imsil the route continues to the north, in the east of Jeonju, the 27 Expressway connects with the Expressway 20 and ends there.

History

On 5 December 2002, the highway was approved and in 2003 began construction of the track. The construction is a lengthy case, as the route passes through a very mountainous area of South Korea. On 28 December 2010 the first 66 km between Jeonju and Seonam and on 31 January 2011 opened a second part was opened over 48 kilometers to Expressway 10 in Suncheon. On 29 April 2011, a short stretch of highway 4 kilometers length opened.
