Supertone Records

Supertone Records was an American record label of the 1920s.

History

Supertone Records was introduced in 1914 for the publication of records of the Sears Company. A large share of the catalog presented re-released Master of Olympic Records with jazz artists such as Gus Droberg, Cope Harvey and Charley Straight. After the producer of the record, which was forced to close in 1924 Fletcher Record Company, the label briefly continued by the Bridgeport Die & Machine Company. Sears but left shortly thereafter to cease production and in the subsequent period took Strauss & Schram the name because Sears had failed to register as a Supertone brand name.

1929 Sears took over again the label as Spareparts for Silvertone Records. Well recordings of Gennett Records and Champion Records were used, which were part of the Starr Piano Company. Until 1931 was produced for Sears, then Supertone was acquired by Brunswick Records, who continued the label of May 1931 to December of the same year, but then finally einstellten. The few publications under Brunswick were only re-releases by artists who were at Brunswick under contract.
