SuperTux

SuperTux is a 2D platforming computer game from other games such as Nintendo's Super Mario series, Sega's Sonic series and Manfred Trenz ' Turrican and - clearly visible to the animation and game patterns - the 1987 originating Commodore 64 computer game Giana Sisters was inspired. Main character of the game is the Linux mascot Tux.

History

On 1 May 2000 Bill Kendrick SuperTux 0.0.0 released. As a free software released under the GPL license, the game is now maintained by several developers and continuously improved since the appearance. To date, several versions have been published. Was published in 2004, the overhauled version 0.1.2. Since 2005, the project is located on the development servers from BerliOS. On December 17, 2006 creates the preliminary version SuperTux 0.3.0 was released as the first version of SuperTux -2 series, with the game getting a new graphics engine, among others.

Technology and game engine

Game Description and Levels

The aim of the game is Penny to free the friend of Tux, from the castle of the evil Nolok, the penny has kidnapped after a picnic. Although Tux help numerous power-ups, most enemies can be eliminated with a simple jump on the head. The current beta version 0.3.3 includes a main world as well as three bonus islands, in which the player has to deal with different abilities with different enemies and bosses. A parallel published Level Editor allows you to create your own levels and maps of the world, with its own graphics can be used.
