Surkhet District

Surkhet is one of 75 districts in Nepal. It is in the Bheri Zone, about 370 kilometers west of Kathmandu. In the 2001 census, had 288 527 inhabitants; in 2001 there were 350 804.

A formative landscape part of the district is the valley of Surkhet with a diameter of 6 to 9 km at an altitude of about 650 m ( ue NN ), is located at the northern edge of the city Birendranagar. From the center of the boiler stands a small wooded and about 70 m high hill on which is the Buddhist monastery ruins of Kankrebihar.
