Surumu

Surumu (* 1974 † 3 November 1999) was an English thoroughbred horse, which was drawn by Walther J. Jacobs on the stud Fährhof at Bremen by letters from the Surama. The chestnut stallion was 1977 winner of the German Derby in Hamburg-Horn.

Surumu was in 1977 with seven lengths the undisputed winner of the German Derby. An injury ended his racing career abruptly little later, but in the thoroughbred breeding Surumu was subsequently very successful. He was six times champion of the Father horses and several times champion of the fathers of broodmares in Germany.

He sired three Derby winners in Germany ( Acatenango, Mondrian and Temporal ) and one in Italy ( Osorio ). In addition, he has produced excellent broodmares and became with them one of the most important stallions in Germany. Surumus daughters Mothers and Others of the Irish Derby and Prix de l' Arc de Triomphe winner Hurricane Run and the currently leading German father horse monsoon. Mondrian has to pass on the hope of his blood in Ireland on Wellmade, Acatenango it does about Lando in France and in Germany Aesculap. Since 2006 is the last Surumu with Osorio - son available to breeders, 2008, he discovered in England.
