Susan Cooper

Susan Cooper ( * May 23, 1935 in Burnham, Buckinghamshire, England) is a British writer who studied English at Oxford. Cooper has created a very versatile plant that includes screenplays, novels, children's books and plays. After graduating she worked as a journalist, but then married an American and moved to Connecticut in 1963 / United States. Her biggest success is now their fantasy series The Dark is Rising.

Susan Cooper has become known for her YA series "Winter Solstice " ( The Dark is Rising ), in which they combined elements of the Arthurian legend with Celtic mythology ( Mabinogion ) and own elements into an exciting fantasy for children. The series has been geared more towards younger readers and won several awards. The first part is called " Before the tide comes in ," the second is "Winter Solstice ", then follow " Green Witch ", " The Grey King " and " The Powers of Light".

Content of " Winter Solstice ": The battle between good and evil has been held since time immemorial and shall expire on the 11th birthday Will Stanton, as the last -added to the so-called Ancients, a crucial phase.

The second part of the novel series was established in 2007 under the title The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (German: Winter Solstice - The Quest for the six signs of light) into a film.
