Susan Molinari

Susan Molinari ( born March 27, 1958 Staten Iceland, New York City ) is an American politician. Between 1990 and 1997, she represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Susan Molinari is the daughter of the 1928 -born former Congressman Guy Molinari and the wife of Bill Paxon, who also sat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1976, she graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy. She then studied until 1982 at the State University of New York at Albany. Politically, she joined the Republican Party. She worked as an analyst for the Senate Finance Committee of New York and the National Republican Governors Association. Between 1986 and 1990 she served on the city council of New York.

Following the resignation of her father as Congressman Molinari was at the due election for the 14th seat from New York as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they took up their new mandate on 20 March 1990. At this time she was there the youngest member. After four elections they could remain until her resignation on August 2, 1997 at the Congress. There she was a member of the Small Business Committee, the Public Works Committee, the Committee on Education and Labor, and later in the budget committee. It was considered a moderate Republican. Susan Molinari's resignation came after she had taken a job as a television journalist at CBS. This activity they exercised for nine months.
