Susanna of Bavaria

Susanne von Bayern ( born April 2, 1502 in Munich, † April 23, 1543 in Neuburg adDonau ) was a princess of Bavaria- Munich and succession by marriage Margravine of Brandenburg- Kulmbach and Countess Palatine of Neuburg.

Life

Susanne was a daughter of Duke Albrecht IV of Bavaria (1447-1508) from his marriage to Gwendolyn of Austria (1465-1520), a daughter of Frederick III. , Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.

On August 25, 1518 Susanne married at the Diet of Augsburg Margrave Casimir of Brandenburg- Kulmbach ( 1481-1527 ). At the glamorous wedding also her uncle participated Emperor Maximilian I, who played the role of leader and bride in the marriage of his niece promised the binding of the Franconian Hohenzollern to the imperial house.

After the death of her first husband she married in 1529 in Neuburg later to become the Elector Palatine Otto Heinrich. The marriage was unhappy and remained, apart from two miscarriages, childless. For his wife built Ottheinrich 1530, the hunting lodge Grunau.
