Suzanne Stephens

Suzanne Stephens ( born July 28, 1946 in Waterloo / Iowa) is an American clarinetist.

Life

Stephens studied in Washington at Sidney Forrest, in Paris at Ulysse Delecluse, in Chicago with Jerome Stowell and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover Hans Deinzer. She won the 1972 Kranichsteiner Music Prize in Darmstadt and a silver medal at the International Competition in Geneva.

Since 1974, she has worked with Karlheinz Stockhausen, who composed more than forty works for clarinet, bass clarinet and basset horn for them. As part of the Stockhausen Edition they played among other things, Solo CDs Harlequin / The little harlequin and in friendship / dream - formula / Amour a. Her students have included Tara Bouman, Michele Marelli, Michael Ibrahim, Petra Stump and Heinz -Peter Linshalm.
