SV Transvaal

Sports Association Transvaal is a Surinamese football club based in Paramaribo, which plays in the first Surinamese League ( Hoofdklasse ).

History

The football club was founded in 1921 by students of Hendrik School, a middle school in Paramaribo. Among the founders were among the brothers Leckie and Elliot. The unusual for a South American club name Transvaal was chosen because the former province of the Union of South Africa at that time made ​​in Paramaribo headlines.

Already the first game of the season in the second division ended with the direct promotion to the highest grade successfully and in 1925 won the SV Transvaal the first national title.
