Sven Ljungberg

Sven Ljungberg (born 15 December 1913 in Ljungby, † July 28, 2010 in Italy) was a Swedish artist, painter and printmaker.

Ljungberg was 1972 to 1978 and director from 1978 to 1981 Rector of the Kungliga Konsthögskolan Stockholm in Stockholm.

He painted mostly pictures of his home town Ljungby, further, he illustrated many books and produced to mosaics.

Extraordinarily, he was known for his portraits of Nobel Laureates in Physics, Chemistry and Economics, made between 1977-1989.

Married Ljungberg was with the artist Ann Margret Dahlquist - Ljungberg, their son Pontus Ljungberg became an architect and designed along with Dahlquist - Ljungberg a museum in honor of his father, which was opened after twelve years of construction 2002.
