Sven O. Kullander

Oscar Sven Kullander ( born November 30, 1952 in Sollefteå ) is a Swedish ichthyologist.

Life and work

Sven Kullander studied at Umeå University and received his doctorate in 1984 from the University of Stockholm with a theme on the taxonomy of South American cichlids.

Kullander since 1990 working as a curator of the ichthyological and herpetological collections of the Swedish Naturhistoriska riksmuseet in Stockholm.

His research interests are tropical freshwater fish, particularly the systematics of South American cichlids ( Cichlidae ) and since 1998 also of Asian freshwater fish. He also deals with the endangered freshwater fish species in Sweden and coordinates the activities of the Swedish FishBase.

Since 1976, he wrote ( in part as co-author) about 100 publications in which he held a number of fish species and genera - scientifically newly described - as Bujurquina, Cleithracara, Krobia, Laetacara, Mazarunia and Tahuantinsuyoa.

Sven Kullander Fang Fang was married to the late 2010 Chinese ichthyologist Kullander.

Kullander honor the Salmlerart Astyanax kullanderi was named.
