Svenska Scoutrådet

Svenska Scoutrådet (SSR; Swedish for Swedish Pfadfinderrat ) is an umbrella organization of the Swedish Scout Movement.

The first scout groups originated in Sweden in 1908 and only two years later, also made Girl Scout troop. In 1922 the Swedish Boy Scouts was a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement; 1928 was followed by the Swedish Scouts with membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

Today, the Svenska Scoutrådet has about 90,000 members. Most scout groups are co-educational.

The Swedish Scouts have always had a close connection to the Swedish royal family. King Carl XVI. Gustaf is the most prominent member of the Swedish Scout Movement.

The Scout motto is in Swedish: Var redo! - Alltid redo! ( Be prepared - Always Ready ).

  • Svenska Missionskyrkans Ungdom Scout (SMU; Scout Organization of the Swedish Mission Church ) with 18,000 members
  • KFUK - KFUMs Scoutförbund ( Scout Association of the Swedish YWCA and YMCA ) with 10,000 members
  • Nykterhetsrörelsens Scoutförbund (NSF; Scouts Association of Good Templars ) with 5,500 members
  • Frälsningsarméns Scoutförbund ( FA; Scouts Association of the Salvation Army ) with 1,200 members
