Świeradów-Zdrój

Świaradów Zdrój [ ɕf ʲ ɛraduf zdruɪ̯ ] ( German Bad Zdrój ) is a town with 4,500 inhabitants in southwestern Poland. The spa at the Queis in the Jizera Mountains belongs to the powiat Lubański in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. He is a member of the euro region Neisse.

History

The village on the eastern slopes of the 1,107 meter high Heufuders ( Stóg Izerski ), the neighboring summit of Tafelfichte was first mentioned in 1337. Already in 1572 recognized the doctor Leonhard Thurneysser the healing from a source in the place. Also the Silesian reformer Kaspar Schwenkfeld and the chronicler Friedrich Lucae made ​​to this source in the 17th century attention.

Following the publication of a memoir by Dr. Wigand Thaler Assigns in 1738 the cure began in the Silesian place at the old triangle with Saxony and Bohemia. 1763 was Flin the spa and beach resort.

In 1768, the well house on the upper wells and 1795 the first bath house was built. 1811 a second mineral spring was discovered, which was used in 1824 for the bathers.

In subsequent years, additional bath houses were built, such as the Leopoldsbad (1838 ), the Ludwigsbad (1879 ) and the Marienbad ( 1904).

1895 burned down large parts of the health and spa facilities. A new representative Kurhaus was opened in 1899, in 1934 was a Radiumbad.

1909 was recorded by the AG Isergebirgsbahn a rail link between peace and Flin mountain. In 1945, Bad Flin that had belonged to Silesia region Lowenberg, to Poland. It was named Świaradów Zdrój, in the same year the town charter.

Community

The municipality ( gmina miejska ) Świaradów Zdrój covers an area of 20 km ² with a population of 5,157. These include the city Świaradów Zdrój and the village Czerniawa -Zdrój ( Bad Schwarzbach ). To the south, the community expands to the Czech border, where there is also the lonely mountain cottage Chatka Górzystów, the former school of the village of Great Iser, which remained the only building of this abandoned village.
