Jilemnice

Jilemnice ( German: Starkenbach ) is a city in Okres Semily, Liberec Region in the Czech Republic. It is located in the Giant Mountains.

Geography

In the district of Hrabacov Jilemka ( Starkenbach ) opens in the Jizera, which flows through the town. To the west rises 561 meters of the country Kozinec ( Kozinetz ), southwest of the Hruby Kopec (507 m) and east of the Branský Kopec (507 m).

History

The place was first mentioned in the 14th century. In the Thirty Years' War, the city was burned down in 1634 by the Swedes. 1701 reached the city in the possession of the Counts of Harrach.

The 1729 finished baroque church building is the architect Johann Georg Achbauer attributed the Younger. From the beginning of the 19th century in the village of enterprises in the textile and glass industry. Until 1868 was Starkenbach seat of the judicial district of the same name, and then the newly created political district Starkenbach. 1899, the railway station on the local railway Starkenbach - Rochlitz was opened.

Jilemnice consists of the districts Hrabačov ( Hrabatschow ) Javorek ( Jaworek ) and Jilemnice ( Starkenbach ). Basic settlement units are Hrabačov, Hruby Kopec, Javorek, Jilem, Jilemnice - střed, Kozinec, Roztocký les, Spořilov I, II Spořilov, Svatý Isidore, U Hatiny and Žlábek.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Hrabačov and Jilemnice.
