History

In the late 19th century the military training ground for the Prussian Army was built near the village. During World War II, the plant was also used as a POW camp for Russian soldiers.

During World War II the camp Stalag VIII -E was built on the training area. It was at first, then later re-populated with Polish and French soldiers with Russian prisoners. In stock at least 50,000 soldiers died of starvation and disease, 200 more were shot by the NKVD when taking the camp.

By 1990, the practice site was a garrison of the Soviet army, and now part of the Polish Army.
